Seborga has it’s own money and passports. The principality would like it’s independence from Italy. The Ligurian stone mosaics in front of most churches are beautiful. Julia is checking them out.

The last weekend in May, we traveled to Ile D’Oleron, on the Atlantic Coast, about 50 miles north of the Bordeaux wine region. It is an island known for biking and outdoor activities. The water was absolutely freezing but as there is a very pronounced low tide, this leaves a large and very fun sand bar to play in!

This spring in Paris the weather was very warm. We enjoyed some lovely walks at the nearby castle in Saint Germain en Laye. All dressed up in my new French pantaloon pants and white sandals, way too cute.

She says to papa “can you buy me this castle, it is really nice, daddy”.

Our first trip to the snow with Julia. We had such a good time. We got her all bundled up into a full body snowsuit and big snow boots, with longjohn underlayers. She was beyond warm!

The house we rented had this little reindeer rocking horse, what fun she had with that!

From time to time, even 18 months stop to ponder and digest the world. What a joy it is to see the little brain working.

Julia enjoyed the beach and most times, did not even notice if mommy or papa were anywhere in sight. Here she is running off into the sunset. Watch out world…

• She started to walk in early September and by October, she was running all over the place.
• She started to want to feed herself, and well, not let anyone else help her eat. Needless to say, lots of food ends up on the floor.
• This need for independence spans most of her activities. She wants to draw, she wants to stack blocks on her own. She has shown us her little character and we love to see her personality coming out in all her actions.
